Typical square of Castilian architecture with its porches and porticos in tiers, the balconies offer a view of the bullfights
The Plaza Mayor is a typical example of Castilian folk architecture with its porches and multi-storey porches. The first houses, where the town hall is now located, were built in the 15th century. The square closed on itself in 1683, but some entrances had to be opened in 1713 to allow the processions to pass. The 234 balconies have a breathtaking view of the bullfights and other shows taking place in the square. This place appears in several films of the 1950s and 1970s, including one by Orson Welles, L'Histoire immortelle.
