ARANJUEZ GARDENS
Gardens of Aranjuez including the Isla in an island, the French style Parterre, the neoclassical Principe and Isabel II
There are four gardens: Jardin de la Isla, Jardin du Parterre, Jardin du Principe and Jardin d'Isabelle II. The French-style parterre garden is closest to the palace. It is punctuated by white marble statues, waterfalls and fountains. Some of the trees were brought from America. Two bridges lead to the Jardin de l'Ile. It is set in an islet between a meander of the Tagus and a canal. The neoclassical Prince's Garden is the largest (150 ha), and features a pier built by Ferdinand VI to navigate the Tagus.
