Overlooking the village and the once-covered terraces, the Château de Saint Beautiful offers a splendid panorama of the surrounding landscape and the Allier gorges. The ruins of this imposing fortress are synonymous with a past combining glory, destruction and oblivion. Its protective enclosures and strategic position - at the top of a steep rock - allowed the village to develop from 1030. It was in the Middle Ages that the castle acquired its renown: part of the dolphins in Auvergne made it its place of residence. Today, the ruins of the fortress bear witness to the fact that the latter resisted the horrors of the time (the castle was sold to the Revolution, and would have continued to degrade). Nowadays, only a Gothic-style steeple, the Romanesque Chapel Saint-Madeleine, and a few sections of fortified walls are still available. But what is worth it!
