Inaugurated in 1497 and recently renovated, this convent was founded at the instigation of João Gonçalves da Câmara, one of Zarco's sons, and is now home to a small community of Franciscan nuns. Here you'll learn that each sister had her own chapel in which to worship. The most splendid of these, on the second floor, is adorned with magnificent azulejos with camellia motifs. Part of the convent has now been converted into a school. Its church, lined with polychrome azulejos, is well worth a visit.
