This modern museum traces the history of whaling, which began in 1940 and ended in 1986, with documentaries, photographs, objects and models of the mammals, boats and factory. Sperm whale bones and other information bear witness to their life in this corner of the Atlantic until their extinction. One of the highlights of the visit is a video showing the work of former sperm whale hunters in Caniçal and eastern Madeira a few decades ago. A worthwhile visit for the whole family.
