Don't be fooled by appearances: despite its never-ending terrace and somewhat rushed service, Carlo Menta offers great value for money for lunch in the heart of the charming Trastevere district. You'll find the great Roman classics, at unbeatable prices (from €6 for a pasta dish!). You can eat on the terrace or in the indoor dining room, which can accommodate a very large number of diners. In any case, it's a good place to indulge yourself while keeping an eye on your budget.

Pieno di turisti, ma vale la pena. Cibo tradizionale e di qualità, prezzi economici

Well, the food is cheap but just OK. We tried the carbonara and amatriciana. The sauce was tasty but the guanciale was soft and lacked flavour. Then we ordered the saltimbocca and cottoleta, which were quite good. The only problem here is that the saltimbocca comes with toothpicks hidden inside and I believe everything served on your plate should be edible.

Finally about the service, we were a group of 5 and the plates just came randomly. We were not able to eat all together. Some got their fists course right away while others waited several minutes for the same dish. The waitresses are polite and helpful.
