Not what I was expecting very small rooms, very small dated rooms could do with new bathrooms and decorating, not sound proof at all could hear the next room flush the loo, a deap clean also wouldn't go a miss does not reflect 4 star rating, however ideally situated near most points of interest and friendly pleasant staff

Good experience at the hotel solis. I would say that the location is second to none and can’t get much better literally 5 minute walk tthe colosseum. Also a wide range of restaurants around the hotel with a good atmosphere. One thing that lets the hotel down is the cleanliness of it. Bit run down bathroom unclean. Also the breakfast isn’t much of a breakfast just a couple pastries. But apart from that it’s ok.

Thought this would be a good hotel since we booked through our credit card company, but the pictures were a lie. Moldy bathroom, hair on the bathroom walls, small room even though we upgraded to "superior" room, small tv that didn't have any channels - not at all worth the price tag. False advertising. I recommend booking with another company. I'm going to report to our credit company and hope other visitors don't have to deal with the same issues.

Room was spacious and clean though shabby in places: walls could do with fresh paint and replacing the carpet. Bed was comfortable with nice sheets but fridge was tiny. Air con was broken but was fixed after a couple of days. Bathroom was clean with fresh towels everyday. Constant hot water though shower had to be adjusted as wouldn't keep straight when under it. Breakfast was plentiful with nice croissants, toasted bread and fruit based spreads, also scrambled eggs and ham if you want something more filling. Twinning tea bags with many flavours were on offer to make your own cup of tea: coffee and fruit juice was offered too. Breakfast staff were always helpful, polite and friendly as too were the receptionists. Location was ideal as the Colloseum was just a very short walk, literally just round the corner at the end of the street! The street was plentiful with souvenir shops, mini markets, pharmacy and plenty of restaurants. The Metro was close by the Colloseum and easy to use with very reasonably priced tickets. We stayed 4 nights and had a great time. If visiting Rome for a short stay Hotel Solis is fine but if you want a more luxurious hotel then this is not for you. Overall Hotel Solis is OK for a 3 star hotel. I would definitely stay again.

Great location near many historic sites. The Colosseum is just blocks away! The staff were great and the rooms were comfortable.

Location absolutely great BUT
the room was tiny and the room
is in need of some love and attention. Booked through Jet2 and based the reviews I had originally seen the hotel seemed okay but…
Suggest New light/lamp shades and bedspread etc. Bathroom needed a deep clean. Mouldy very small shower cubicle with dodgy doors that didn’t close properly so leaked. Although the shower power is good and you get plenty of hot water. No working extractor fan in bathroom.
No soap provided in the bathroom. (Thankfully I always have a spare bar packed) Sink needed a scrub before use. But good hot water is available. Only one plug socket worked on one side of the bed. USB socket didn’t work on that side. Nothing worked on the other side. No other available plug sockets. No kettle as detailed. So no tea and coffee making facilities.
No minibar as detailed it was a mini dodgy fridge. Only chairs were on the balcony and they were hard wooden ones. Balcony, although nice to have the outside space the view was not great. Clearly just for the smokers. Flooring broken leaving exposed wood. Air conditioning was a blessing and worked well. Bed was made and Bins emptied with new towels provided both mornings. But Tight with toilet roll!
Location to the colosseum was perfect. And not far to other top attractions such as the Forum and Trevi fountain etc. Lots of bars and restaurants on the doorstep. Good job as Hotel ‘bar’ was not open.
(Best local restaurant was Ristorante Massenzio Ai Fori, Largo Corrado Ricci.)
Breakfast at the hotel….we were up and out before 7 on our first day so didn’t see what it was like. On the 2nd morning we had slept in (after early starts two day’s running) so 3rd morning, our last we found a standard continental breakfast with just scrambled egg as hot option.
Loved Rome but won’t return to this hotel.

Excellent location to walk to all the main sites , albeit the Vatican needed a few pit stops. Small room , but only slept in it to be fair. Air con was a blessing.

An Unpleasant Stay Riddled with Bed Bugs, Theft, and Unhelpful Staff
I recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at Hotel Solis (HS311), and I must say it was one of the most disappointing and frustrating hotel stays I have ever had. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that this place was not up to par and was very outdated.
First and foremost, after spending two days in the room, I noticed a few unwelcome guests: bed bugs. It was truly horrifying to see these pests crawling around on the mattress, pillow, and hiding in the corners. I understand that hotels can occasionally face such issues, but the lack of proper maintenance and cleanliness to address this problem was simply unacceptable.
When I informed the hotel staff about the bed bugs, their response was far from satisfactory. Instead of taking immediate action to rectify the situation, they seemed indifferent and dismissive of my concerns. They made no effort to relocate me to a different room or address the infestation promptly. Their unwillingness to acknowledge the severity of the issue left me feeling frustrated and abandoned as a guest.
To make matters worse, the overall service at this hotel was abysmal. The staff appeared disinterested and lacked basic hospitality skills and were un apologetic. Whenever I approached them for assistance or guidance, they responded with apathy and an unwillingness to help. Their unprofessional behavior was evident throughout my stay, making it clear that guest satisfaction was not a priority for them.
Moreover, the general state of the hotel was far from satisfactory. The cleanliness of the common areas was questionable, with visible dirt on the walls and debris present. It seemed as though the staff had neglected their duties, resulting in an unkempt environment that did not meet even the most basic standards.
In addition to the bed bug issue and unhelpful staff, the amenities promised by the hotel were also disappointing. The advertised Wi-Fi was slow and unsecured with no firewall to help with guest privacy. All devices were visible on the network which included their front desk computer with sensitive financial data. The quality of the bedding and towels was subpar, with stains and signs of wear and tear.
In addition, my stay at Hotel Solis was further tarnished by an incident of theft. I had purchased a prepaid data eSIM card for my mobile device and had left the card with QR activation code in the room while I was out for a brief period, only to return and find it missing. The code was rescanned by someone which caused my phone to be disconnected immediately. The only logical explanation was that a hotel staff member had taken it from my room as it was no longer on the bathroom sink where I had left it. I immediately reported the theft to the hotel staff, hoping for their assistance and support in resolving the matter. However, their response was once again disappointing. They seemed unconcerned and showed no initiative in investigating the incident or taking any meaningful action. Their lack of professionalism and failure to address such a serious issue left me feeling violated and deeply disappointed. It is extremely distressing to experience theft during a hotel stay, but to encounter apathy and negligence from the staff is simply unacceptable. This incident further highlights the overall incompetence and disregard for guest well-being exhibited by Hotel Solis.
Overall, my experience at Hotel Solis was highly unsatisfactory, marred by the presence of bed bugs, theft, an unresponsive and unhelpful staff, and a general lack of cleanliness. I would strongly advise anyone considering a stay at this hotel to think twice and explore other options. The combination of poor service and unaddressed pest problems made for an incredibly unpleasant and regrettable experience.
