Abbey with a famous cemetery of the first centuries of the Church on the Appian Way.
Founded in the catacombs of Saint-Callixte by Mont-des-Cats in 1883, the abbey of Notre-Dame du Saint-Sacrement aux Frattocchie has its origins in the suppression of the abbey of the Catacombs of Saint-Calliste near Rome. The Trappists had been expressly called by Pope Leo XIII in 1883 to be the guardians of the famous cemetery of the Church's first centuries on the Appian Way. The offices are open to visitors.
