THE WESTIN EXCELSIOR * * * * *
An establishment with a high class welcome and more than complete facilities.
Since 1906, the Excelsior has welcomed celebrities, statesmen and artists. Located on Via Veneto, famous for its palaces, this establishment is as remarkable as its peers. Its facilities are more than complete (wellness center, indoor swimming pool and spa), its welcome is first class and its rooms are of course exceptional. Among them, the Villa La Cupola, one of the largest suites in Europe, with a surface area of 1,100m2! A choice establishment if you are looking for luxury, comfort and refinement.

I'm Bonvoy Titanium, I had a reservation for two rooms. One became an apartment with the help of SNA, and the other was also upgraded. The room was large, with comfortable beds and a large bathroom. I think the room itself and the apartment were renovated recently, but the bathroom was older.
The service was excellent, they gave us two connecting rooms - not something that has happened to us in a very long time in the Marriott system.
We also had breakfast, it was a buffet and quite varied.
I highly recommend the hotel.
BUT… the hotel needs a major RE-DO!!
The rooms are large but wow the furnishings are old and shabby, the carpets dirty and the beds and sheets have seen better days. Furnitures throughout is very dated and in disrepair. Yes I know we are in Rome and it’s old!!
Breakfast is fantastic with excellent offerings.
Staff is alright. Concierge lacks in ability to book tickets for any venues. Most hotels are able to at least assist with this. Although one concierge did say that he would telephone to make a booking for us.
Big concern was a doorman who seemed to have a “deal” going with a less than honest cab driver. We asked for a cab to the Vatican and were up charged €35 from this Tesla driving cabbie. Our return cab ride with another company was €12. That’s a BIG difference. The doorman was furious when we said we wanted to call an Uber when we were leaving today. We saw his Tesla buddy waiting in the parking area at the front of the hotel. Beware!!
