Many pilgrims travel to Rome to take part in the torchlight procession and the Pope's urbi et orbi blessing.
Holy Week in Rome is a series of events, beginning with Good Friday, during which the Pope leads a torchlight procession from the Colosseum to Mount Palatine, recreating the 14 stages of Christ's Way of the Cross. On Easter Sunday at noon, thousands of pilgrims gather in St. Peter's Square for the urbi et orbi blessing. During Easter week, according to the provisions of the law, it is possible to obtain a plenary indulgence by visiting the four major basilicas in Rome.
