BASILICA DI SANTA SABINA
Church of thecentury in Rome.
Built in the 5th century on the site where Saint Sabina is thought to have lived, the church was transformed into a convent by Saint Dominic. During the Renaissance and the Counter-Reformation, it was decorated. Recent works have restored Santa Sabina to its original appearance, but the mosaics of the fifth century have not been recreated. Its carved wooden door, dating from its construction, represents episodes from the Old and New Testaments. Above the front door, some remains of a mosaic containing the two sources of the Church, Jewish and pagan.
