Church with beautiful Byzantine mosaics in Rome.
The first construction of the basilica Santa Maria in Domnica alla Navicella dates back to the 7th century. Remodeled in the 9th and 16th centuries, its beautiful Byzantine mosaics (817-824) have been preserved and constitute its main treasure. In the apse, do not miss a magnificent Virgin and Child receiving the Pope's homage, surrounded by angels. You will notice a meadow with curious poppies that represents here the flowers of paradise.
