Very ancient basilica housing the chains that Saint Peter, imprisoned in Jerusalem, would have worn.
This basilica, founded in 442, keeps under the main altar a precious relic, the chains(vincoli) that St. Peter would have worn in his prison in Jerusalem. It also houses Michelangelo's famous Moses which adorns the tomb of Pope Julius II in the right nave. According to legend, once the work was finished, the sculptor was so impressed by the realism of the statue that he shouted at Moses: "But speak!
