Church with 5 underground chapels covered with skulls and bones of Capuchins.
This church is famous for its five underground chapels covered with 3,700 skulls and capuchin bones: sensitive souls should abstain! This crypt is accessed through a door on the right of the church. Inside, a museum dedicated to the Capuchins and a Caravaggio: San Francesco in meditazione, even if the attribution of this work is still under debate. The church was built in 1626 for Cardinal Antonio Barberini, whose tomb is near the altar.
