CHIESA DI SANT'ANDREA DELLA VALLE
Mother Church of the Theatines order with high dome, place of the first act of the opera Tosca by Puccini.
Mother Church of the Order of Theatins, it is considered to be the archetype of the mannerist churches of the Counter-Reformation. Its dome is one of the highest in Rome. In the church, the fresco of Lanfranco covers the inside of the dome, and those of the Dominiquin the pendants and the vault of the choir. There is also a copy of Michelangelo's Pietà, made in 1616 by De Rossi. It is in this church that the first act of Puccini's opera Tosca takes place.
