Baroque church with a concave facade and two twin bell towers.
Built in the 12th century by Calixte II on the so-called site of the martyrdom of Saint Agnes, this baroque church was restored in 1652 by Carlo and Girolamo Rainaldi and finished by Borromini, who built its concave façade and two twin bell towers. The interior is the work of Giovanni Battista Gaulli, known as Baciccio (1665), the central altar of Domenico Guidi. In the basement, you can see the remains of the old Diocletian stadium, a Roman mosaic and medieval frescoes.

Basilique magnifique, grandiose, tout est grand. Même si la façade est déjà imposante, je ne m'attendais pas à ce que j'ai vu à l'intérieur. Les coupoles sont très belles.

The Baroque church in all its splendor and demeasurement! The façade like the interior is a fine example of this exuberant and dramatic decorative style. Everything is big and oversized. The dome in particular is exceptional.

Jolie petite église située sur le lieu du martyre de sainte Agnès.
