Church housing the tomb of Borromini in Rome.
This church was built at the request of Leo X, the first Medicis pope of Tuscan origin, for the large Florentine community then living in the district. It was started on plans by Michelangelo, who promised to build the most beautiful church in Rome. These were too expensive and abandoned and less talented architects finished the building. The main altar is by Borromini, and the church houses the latter's burial.
