BASILICA DI SAN CRISOGONO
An example of a basilica built in the twelfth century on the basis of a seventh century church in Rome.
It is an example of a basilica built in the 12th century on the foundations of a 7th century church. It has 3 naves separated by ancient columns. See the mosaics of Pietro Cavallini's nave (12th century). The paving is the work of the Cosmats. You can go down to the old sanctuary decorated with frescoes (VI of Saint Benedict). The church square, Piazza Sonnino, is dominated by the Anguilara tower, dating from the 12th century, and the palace of the same name, also called Dante's house (small museum).
