ROMANESQUE CASE DEL CELIO
Church with 2 patrician houses on 2 floors separated by a sort of decorated patio.
These two two-storey patrician houses from the 3rd and 4th centuries, separated by a sort of frescoed patio, are located beneath the church of San Giovanni e Paolo. The visit begins with the pagan frescoes of the nymphaeum, followed on the lower floor by a procession of men carrying sheep and attitudes of prayer marking the Christian turning point. Finally, in a small room, you'll find the "confession", the burial place depicting the martyrs. A sublime site to discover, still a little off the beaten tourist track.
