A remarkable temple next to the house of the Vestals in Rome.
Of round form, the temple of Vesta sheltered the sacred fire (the domestic fire) that priestesses, the vestals, were not to let die in any case. It existed since the first times of Rome (VIth century BC), but its current aspect dates from the IIIth century. Its unusual round shape is reminiscent of the primitive huts of the first inhabitants of Rome. Next to it, the house of the Vestals, with which the temple forms the complex of theatrium vestae, should be noted.
