HOME CATACOMB
Catacombs with beautiful paleochristian murals, one of the oldest underground cemeteries in Rome.
Spread over 18 km, the catacombs of Domitille date back to the 2nd century. Located on the border of the Roman border (called the poerium), the catacombs are one of the oldest underground cemeteries in Rome, since, let us remember, it was forbidden to bury the dead within the city's walls. The catacombs still have beautiful early Christian murals. The highlight of the visit was the mysterious underground basilica of the saints Nereus and Achilles of the 4th century, dedicated to two Roman soldiers martyred under Diocletian.
