FORO DI CESARE
Forum with Corinthian columns and a podium in Rome.
Built in 46 BC with the gold brought back from the wars against the Gauls, the forum was part of a great project of urban renewal wanted by Julius Caesar. The forum is the only building of this project that Caesar could inaugurate during his lifetime, the others were built during the reign of Augustus. Of this forum only three Corinthian columns and a podium remain today, remains of the temple dedicated to Venus Genitrix, mother of Aeneas and that Caesar counted among his ancestors, as a thank you for his victory against Pompey.
