Garden with a beautiful view of the Forum and the Colosseum, the first private botanical garden in Rome.

The pavilions and gardens were built at the request of Cardinal Alexander Farnese on the ruins of Tiberius' palace in the 17thcentury , as a winter residence. The gardens(Horti Farnesiani) are a complex succession of terraces leading to a central fountain: Il Teatro del Fontanone . The Farnesian Garden was the first private botanical garden to exist, so a visit is a must! Stop for a moment to enjoy the splendid view of the Forum and Colosseum from the terraces.
