VILLA DORIA PAMPHILI
The largest of the historical villas in Rome.
With its 180 ha, it is, to the east of the Trastevere, the largest of Rome's historic villas. The initial nucleus of the villa was built by Camillo Pamphili, nephew of Pope Innocent X, in the middle of the 16th century. A full tour of the park takes a good half day, although it is possible to see the most important points in about two hours. Not to be missed: the lake in the middle of the park and its canals, the theatre garden and the casino del Bel Respiro, the greenhouse garden, the secret gardens and the neo-Gothic chapel Doria Pamphili.
