VILLA TORLONIA
A famous villa with Hebrew catacombs from the 2nd and 3rd centuries in Rome.
Of all the villas in the area, Villa Torlonia is the most famous because it was, from 1925 to 1943, the residence of Mussolini who paid the symbolic rent of a lira per year. The park of Villa Torlonia occupies a total area of about 132,000square meters. The entrance is marked by two small temples and by very tall Canary palms. Do not miss the Casina delle Civette, the Casino Nobile and the Serra Moresca. Also noteworthy is the fact that the basement of the villa houses about 140,000square meters of Hebrew catacombs.
