CARRIAGE HOUSE
It was the last Vatican Museum, which was transferred here in 1973. You can reach it by visiting the museum garden floor, by stairs from the Vestibule vestibule. It is in a large vaulted hall that is exhibited by the popes'teams, including great gala sedans and easier sedans used by the popes.
The great gala sedan designed for Léon XIII at the beginning of the th century, by the Roman builder Peroni, in three years'work. The majestic eagle was worn at the rear of the carosse, while in front of the flat window, two cherubim wore the papal tiara and the baleen, as well as the two keys, symbols of the Sovereign pontiff.
We also see chairs that Leo XIII and Pius IX used, one in the form of a stylized boat.
It also exhibits Pius XI automobiles: A Mercedes Benz who served in Pius XII on 19 July 1943 to go to the scene of the bombing of St. Lawrence-Les; a Citroën and a Graham Page, all custom built. Finally, for the unconditional, the Papamobile of John Paul II is also shown.
