PIAZZA VENEZIA
The square is lined with some of the most important monuments of Rome.
Around this crossroads, many essential monuments such as the Capitol, the Venezia palace and the Santa Maria d'Aracoeli church. The square is dominated, even crushed, by the Vittoriano, a monument dedicated to Victor-Emmanuel II, King of Italy after the unification of the country. This grand building is known by various nicknames: the typewriter, but also the denture or the mounted part. Many elements are there to symbolize reunited Italy, such as the sixteen statues on the pediment for the regions and the fountains for the two seas surrounding the Boot.
