Neighborhood with mythological frescoes and medieval imagery in Rome.

Between 1913 and 1926, Gino Coppedè built this district, an incredible architectural mix. The heart is in Piazza Mincio, where the Fontana delle Rane stands. Around it, 18 villas and 26 buildings, for the wealthy classes. Coppedè wanted to bring together in a single architectural work all the faces of Rome over the past 2000 years, from Antiquity to Art Deco. Mythological frescoes, medieval imagery: there is a hallucinating eclecticism. Dario Argento captured this atmosphere in several of his films, notably The Bird with the Crystal Plumage (1970).

Un quartier années '20 peu connu
This is an area where the Italian architect Gino Coppedè built at least 20 buildings in a style defined as "Coppedè" after the architect name (a sort of Liberty mixed with eclectic elements). The central point is Piazza Mincio with its original "Frogs fountain". Very nice place to visit.
