The Nomentano area is organised around Nomentana. It goes through the Africano district, so named because it was built in fascist times, and consequently the streets received names reminiscent of the African campaigns. Many parks and villas extend along via Nomentana. This consular street was the favourite street of Roman nobles for the construction of their secondary residences located just outside the walls of the city: country villas obtained through the restructuring of rural homes.
