MATTATOIO DI ROMA
The former slaughterhouse in Rome, opened in 1887 and abandoned in 1975. Since then, Mattatoio has been considered one of the pieces of Roman industrial architecture and has undergone several renovations before becoming a cultural centre. Today, it is divided into different pavilions where there is the Faculty of Architecture, a cultural laboratory where courses and conferences are organised and a vast exhibition space which hosts festivals such as the Romaeuropa Festival in October/November, where the best in contemporary artistic production takes place.
