Anagni was the residence of the popes in the 12th and 13th centuries. It has a beautiful cathedral. Essentially Romanesque in style (11th-12th centuries), with some Gothic additions, it contains an exceptional crypt for its 13th century frescoes, evoking both the lives of the saints and the Apocalypse as well as Platonic science and cosmogony. With its rich mosaic pavement, the crypt is a sensation. The cathedral museum also offers an interesting visit to the library, the ancient treasure and the lapidarium.
