A trendy hotel with a low price tag that combines well-designed dormitories and private rooms with a pool, restaurant and trendy bar.

The international hostel chain Generator has created a fine opus for its first establishment in Miami and the USA. Trendy decor, with a mix of street art and vintage style, bright designer spaces, a pleasant swimming pool, quality restaurant and cocktail bar... The dormitories are well thought-out, nothing like the sardine cans of some hostels. Some dormitories are reserved for women. As for the private rooms, they're ultra-comfortable with great bedding and cool touches like the love box. All in all, a really good place to stay!

Stayed recently with some friends and our experience was okay. For as many good things we experienced, there were a fair amount of negatives but our overall experience was positive.

Room Features: Our main problem was that our private 4-bed room was shown online in pictures with a fireplace, seating area, and a more spacious bathroom, but it didn't come with any of that. It was just the two bunk beds and a tiny bathroom with inadequate storage. It looks like they used pictures of their private guesthouses instead for our space.

Room Amenities: We were also disappointed that the hair dryer, iron, and toiletries were not included in our room (even though we contacted the hotel beforehand and were told they would be) and instead had to be rented out from reception. This includes the toiletries (body wash, shampoo, conditioner) which were available at reception for a fee (which we ultimately got waived after complaining).

Room Design/Storage: This is a hostel, but we stayed in the private room, so we expected they would design these rooms in a way that maximized storage, but we only had the underbed storage bins; there was virtually no shelving or anything to facilitate storage better, so everything had to sit on the floor: toiletries, makeup, hair dryer, extra clothing, iron, etc. There was definitely adequate space in the room to accommodate shelving, so we wish they would've installed some.

Staff: It is nearly impossible to reach anyone by phone, but they are fairly responsive by email. We also had to ask for extra towels multiple times before they finally brought some. The front desk is usually understaffed with people waiting, so if you need anything, you usually have to wait. That being said, once we did get in contact with staff, they were super friendly, helpful, and accommodating.

Hotel Amenities: We loved the ability to get free beach towels from the front desk, the awesome pool/courtyard/patio area, the public bathrooms, and the general trendy design of the hotel. There are also computers available for use, lots of seating space, and the restaurant onsite.

Restaurant: Hoja Taqueria is onsite and has good hours, but is unfairly overpriced. Also their happy hour deals are a sham: an order of tacos normally comes with two for around $15 but the happy hour special is $7...for one taco. The majority of their drinks are made with mezcal but are premixed, so if you don't like mezcal, you are SOL. Breakfast was cold and overpriced as well, so we made every effort to not patronize the restaurant.

Hotel Vibe: We met some great people and loved hanging out in all of the various public spaces, especially the pool desk. Cannot beat the location in the heart of Miami Beach and having the beach/boardwalk right across the street. Also, the pricing for this location makes it superior to most other options.

A Gem of Miami Beach! This is the spot for easy-going travelers who like a chic place that isn’t pretentious. The indoor lounge is beautiful, the pool is a lil oasis with lots of seating and custom murals, the hotel restaurant and bar is exceptional and at a fair price. (Don’t you dare miss happy hour mon-fri and you better try the mushroom burrito, I am not asking)

Our front desk staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Alvin was such a delight, very approachable and shines bright in his role of guest interfacing; he truly seeks out to ensure an exceptional guest experience. Lee also helped us with changes to our itinerary and questions about our stay with great care and professionalism. Ronald was our bartender for the bulk of our stay and I can’t recommend him enough as a talented bartender and hospitable staff member.

All-in-all great stay. Th rooms were very clean and functional. My only recommendation would be for pillows that a little more cushioned as opposed to just fluffy so they don’t sink down. But really, can’t wait to be visiting here again and I have been recommending this spot to my friends.
