THE BETSY HOTEL
Built in a neo-classical style with the other Art Deco hotels of Collins Avenue, the Betsy Hotel opened in 1942. Called "The Betsy Ross", he served as accommodation for U.S. soldiers who flew on the beaches during World War II. Betsy Ross is an important name in the history of the United States: This is what was called the woman George Washington asked to sew the first American flag. This establishment is therefore doubly symbolic for the premises and the Americans in Miami.
In 2007, the hotel closed for two years of work. Re-opened in 2009, it retains its charm of ancient Florida with 63 comfortable and luxurious rooms, including two suites. One room stands apart from others: the'House of the writer '. Recently built, this room welcomes writers who do not have the means to afford a room to perform their art (it is comfortable but there is no real bed; we sleep on a sofa-bed). In exchange for this philanthropy, the writer must quote the hotel in his book or blog… An intelligent compromise.
The establishment is a human size and you feel fast at home. On the top floor you will also enjoy the lovely intimate terrace facing the sea where a small Spa has been installed. In the restaurant LT, you will taste excellent grilled steaks and seafood. A very good address.
