TORCH OF FRIENDSHIP
A monument dedicated to President Kennedy following his assassination in Miami.
The Friendship Torch was installed in 1960 in Bayfront Park. Placed on a stone base of 5 m high, it symbolized the friendship between Miami and the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, at a time when many immigrants arrived in Miami. Four years later, the monument was dedicated to President Kennedy following his assassination. It features the coats of arms of the 20 Caribbean and Latin American countries, with a space between Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic. Cuba should be included once relations between the two countries have calmed down.
