BLACK ARCHIVES - HISTORIC LYRIC THEATER
Former movie theater located in the Overtown district that organizes exhibitions on the history of Black Miami.
This former movie theater opened in 1913 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Buildings and is located in the Overtown neighborhood. It was mostly frequented by Miami's African-American community. In 1988, the Black Archives, History and Research Foundation of South Florida purchased the building to house its collections of archives and artifacts from the 19th and 20th centuries. This cultural center of reference organizes exhibitions on the history of Black Miami.
