WARD ROOMING HOUSE
Historic residence dedicated to the work of African-American artists in Miami.
Built in 1925 when the neighborhood was still called "Colored Town," this elegant historic home was home to African Americans and Native Americans who could not find housing. Now renovated, it is an art gallery devoted to the work of African American artists, usually contemporary. The exhibitions, organized by the Hampton Art Lovers association, gather paintings and sculptures around strong themes such as the place of the African-American woman, immigration or the history of Miami. A fascinating visit.
