This street is the nerve center of Little Havana. The smell of Cuban food, cigar perfumes and music float in the air.

This is the main and commercial street of Little Havana, the one you have to go through if you want to have a glimpse of the life of this neighborhood, which was a Jewish district until the 1950s. It is recommended to visit this neighborhood during the day and to avoid lingering there after dark. Many restaurants will make you taste the famous Cuban cuisine ending with a Cuban coffee (it has the particularity of being sweetened during the extraction), but also fresh fruit juices at Los Pinareños Fruteria or artisanal ice creams like those of Azúcar. There is no lack of stores: cigar factories, local designers, art galleries... A visit along Calle Ocho allows you to retrace the history of these Cuban immigrants who came to settle in the United States. The Brigade 2506 Memorial (at the corner of SW13th Ave), is a discreet memorial dedicated to the memory of Cubans who died in the Bay of Pigs. A perpetual flame is lit there. Next door, Máximo Gómez Park is nicknamed Domino Park because of the large number of domino players who come here to meet. A few blocks away, the Hoy Como Ayer bar is one of the best known and most popular in Little Havana and hosts many bands playing Latin music. Finally, the cemetery (3260 SW8th St) celebrates the fighters for the Cuban liberation and houses the graves of three former Cuban presidents. To preserve its authenticity, part of Calle Ocho was listed as a national treasure in 2017.
