FORT BARRANCAS

A site for picnics or walks on marked trails
The history of the fort began with the Spaniards who founded it during the 18th century. Partially destroyed by the passage of time but especially by battles, the fort was restored by the Americans during the 19th century, respecting the original plans that are part of the National Archives. The site, which covers 65 acres, in the center of the Naval Air Station, allows for walking on marked trails. At the time of writing, the Naval Air Station, and therefore Fort Barrancas, are closed to the public.
