Historic village located in the heart of the city, includes a dozen properties allowing visitors to discover Pensacola
The city's historic downtown, Historic Pensacola Village, is not to be missed. You can visit this historic village on your own or on 45-minute guided tours (included in the price) at 11am, 1pm and 2:30pm. Located in the heart of the city, this historic village consists of a dozen properties that allow visitors to experience Pensacola through the ages from 1559 (when the Spanish colony was established) to the 1920s. Guided tours, led by guides in period costume, include Lavalle House (1805), Dorr House (1871), Lear-Rocheblave House (1890) and Old Christ Church (1832), some of the oldest buildings in town. The Museum of Commerce and the Museum of Industry are impressive reconstructions of the tools and lifestyle of the pioneers. The Children's Museum will delight children with its miniature reproductions of Historic Pensacola Village, its old-fashioned classroom and its interactive nature exhibits. Finally, the Florida State Museum, the T.T. Wentworth Museum, presents various temporary and permanent exhibits on the history of Florida. You will also see the oldest Protestant church in Florida which is still standing on its original site. It was used during the Civil War as a reserve camp and hospital for soldiers. Exhibits trace Pensacola's history back to prehistoric times.
