The room seemed as clean as it could be… it’s definitely older but that was expected… it’s in a real nice area for day time but nighttime it is noisy … THE REAL ISSUE WE HAD WAS at night the room next to ours had some very sketchy behavior going on that kept us up half they night and I had my children in the room, I was so worried they were hearing what was going on … then the sketchy people seemed to leave at 2am and never came back and room was vacant in the morning not sure what kind of people or activities these rooms are being booked for but it made me want to get outta there asap… it’s too bad bc the area seems so nice was not expecting to hear what we heard last night …
Our overnight stay started out nicely. The daytime staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is lovely. The free earplugs over on the wine “mini bar” should have clued me in.
Later on in the evening , the loud music from the Bovine restaurant underneath our room started and never stopped. Between that, loud guests in the hallway and street noise, I ended up cramming those earplugs into my ears and drifted off to sleep. Woke up before 1am and the music from downstairs was STILL blaring. I tried to call down to the front desk but no one was answering. We decided then to pack up and go home. Never again!
LOUD. We have a balcony room so it was a bit more expensive. Bad idea. At 2:33 AM a person using a power washer began to clean the sidewalk outside of a restaurant called AVA right outside the balconies! It is 3:05 AM and the pressure washer is still going. The exterior doors of the guest rooms here are French doors and do not keep out noise nor cold air (it’s in the 30s here tonight). I just called the front desk and the man told me this power washing is done frequently & lasts for about an hour. No big deal, apparently. I thought the hotel ownership would want to help end the noise for their guests but they did not offer to call Winter Park PD for assistance. No noise ordinance in Winter Park?
The man who checked us in here at The Park Plaza were very nice and hospitable. Wayne the bellman/valet was awesome. But this noise is intolerable and as I still hear the pressure washer running I realize there will be little sleep this evening before our long drive home tomorrow. It ruined our stay.
This hotel is very outdated.
Our room was very small with old furniture. Room hadn't been ventilated and smelled moldy. The tiny bathroom was ugly, paint falling off the walls and leaky faucets.
You could hear your room neighbors like if they were in your room. Ours played their TV all night . Outside, a man was pressure cleaning at night, for hours . It was also very loud. It was like a horrible Halloween experience!
This place is not quaint. It is old, very poorly maintained and the staff very used to people complaining . As the result,
unconcerned and un- caring.
We were charged 37 $ for a bottle of wine (provided in the room) that we did not touched.
(Still waiting to be reimbursed)
Price was 605$ for 2 nights!!
What a disappointment!!
To say the least!!
Never again, tell your friends, invite your enemies!????
I rarely write a review. After staying the weekend at this hotel, I decided to write one. Yes, the hotel has a great location. But that’s it. I do appreciate an historic or older Victorian feel. This is way beyond that. This hotel hasn’t been updated since the early 1900’s. Creeks in the floors, beds and main staircase. The people in the room next to me actually felt like they were in the same room. Bathrooms were absolutely terrible. And the icing on the cake was my daughter and I both having some type of bug bites when we left. You can just assume what that is. One positive is the staff was very nice. But this place needs a major renovation for me to ever stay again. Stay at the Alfond instead.
If you’re staying somewhere exclusively for the location and don’t really care about the room, then this is the place for you. You should know, though, that the AC may pour water onto your floor, and the front desk will simply ask if you need more towels. The view might be great (overlooking the park!), but the shower is stained yellow and there’s hair in the bathroom. The room looks cute, but you might have to force your way out of the bathroom. The hotel has plenty of charm, but you’ll hear every conversation your neighbor has. The bell staff is helpful, but, again, the front desk team will just ask if you need additional towels (and do nothing else) if/when water leaks from your AC.
We enjoyed our one night staycation here on The Avenue. I grew up in Winter Park so it was special to stay here for the first time having grown up visiting the avenue to eat and shop.
We did the same...a visit with shopping and eating at Prato (dinner) and Barnies (brunch).
Sadly the room was loud at night with the glass front and thin walls. The ear plugs at bedside were needed!
Overall would recommend with 100 year old atmosphere and charm plus location.
The hotel has a very historical taste, the room is not big but very comfortable, the bathroom is small ,although the street will not affect the rest at night, the service is very friendly and valet parking
Valets we're nice. Staff unfriendly. No amenities at all. Room in poor condition. The tub was dirty. The tile was damaged. The step up into the bathroom was dangerous. Lighting was poor. Ceiling fan didn't work. The closet had no light. Pillow case was stained or unwashed. Worst of all --the staff never welcomed us. The two mornings we came downstairs neither of the staff said ANYTHING To us. Don't waste money on a poorly run hotel where nothing is in good shape. Rude and shabby and disappointing.
I called hotel and asked for 1 room, the price was $190.00 and they charged me $190.00. When I called second time for another room, they told me available room with balcony is 240.00, but they charged me $280.13. I complained that the sound of the train was ridiculous and they offered me an upgraded room as a complimentary. Yet they charged me almost $400.00 for it with out my authorization. Very dishonest people.
We had such excitement as we arrived to Park Plaza Hotel but we're surely left let down and disgusted. As we pulled back our comforter we found a small roach near the end of the bed, but removed it shrugged it off as possibly just because the building is old... but as we got into bed we all got itchy and then following found dry blood on the comforter which is when my children nor I felt comfortable staying. We were told we would receive a refund and the charge is still pending weeks later with no answer to their phones to discuss the matter. Adorable area but stay at a nicer newer hotel and don't learn your lesson like me.
Lodged a guest here on a colleague's recommendation. She had no complaints. The lobby is quaint and sweet. I can't personally attest to the room accommodations.
Really great location, friendly staff but rooms that left a little to be desired. Repairs are needed. I think the managers should go into EACH room and inspect. There are areas that need attention. Overall, I'd recommend staying there, just don't get your hopes too high.
I had a great experience at this hotel. The staff was friendly and the rooms were very clean. I would highly recommend staying at this location if you are ever in the area.
This hotel is my absolute favorite. I love the rooms and the staff. This is my home away from home. I feel safe, cared for, and the rooms are always comfortable and clean.
This beautiful historic building is the perfect spot for a romantic getaway, business travel, or family vacation. Plenty of delicious restaurants and the people/staff/strangers are so friendly!!
