CELEBRATION
City south of Orlando with beautiful homes, plush stores and colorful Art Deco architecture.
Twenty miles south of Orlando and less than 10 miles from Disney Word, Celebration is a special town because it was founded by the Walt Disney Company in 1994. Its concept originates from a utopian project of Walt Disney: to create an ideal city where there would be no crime and where the inhabitants would live in harmony in houses with carefully worked architecture. Mickey's father did not live to see the realization of this project (he died in 1966), but it remains linked to his history. Today, the town of 11,000 inhabitants is no longer managed by the company with the big ears, but its spirit remains the same as when it was conceived. You'll see beautiful homes reminiscent of the Desperate Housewives (all built in one of the five architectural styles approved at the time), plush stores and colorful Art Deco architecture. The entire downtown area is within walking distance, the lawns are beautifully manicured, garden gnomes are strictly forbidden, and lively music blares from discreetly hidden speakers. The city is often compared to the Truman Show. We recommend spending a few hours there because it is a unique curiosity that will appeal to Disney fans as well as to architecture lovers and other curious visitors. The walk is also very pleasant because the city is green and full of flowers; it has an artificial lake where you can walk around and watch birds and alligators.
