FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH
This site reconstructs the life of the Florida Indians and the dwellings as they were when the Spanish arrived
When the Spanish conquistador Ponce de León arrived in Florida, he noticed that the Taino Indians were healthier than the Spaniards. Since they all drank water from the same spring, he deduced that it had special virtues and kept them young. Thus was born the legend of the Fountain of Youth! Its location has been preserved and you can still drink water from it. Beyond the legend, the site is interesting because it reconstructs the life of the Florida Indians and the houses as they were when the Spanish arrived.
