FORT LAUDERDALE HOLLYWOOD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
A small airport, but very well served since almost all American airlines stop there. On the other hand, prices are often cheaper from Fort Lauderdale than Miami, and this is the starting point for several discount airlines such as JetBlue. But, above all, since the summer of 2016, Norwegian has been flying directly from Paris to Fort Lauderdale at an unbeatable rate, on average 300 euros per round trip! A real good plan then.
It is also the departure point for many flights to the Bahamas, via Bahamasair for example (less than 1 hour flight to Nassau) or to the Caribbean whose main islands are about 1 hour away (Jamaica, Antigua, Barbados...).
In response to this growing popularity, the airport has decided to invest $791 million to renovate and expand it. The works are expected to be fully completed by the end of 2021, but renovations of parts of the airport have already been completed in 2018. As a result of this work, the airport's northern runway is closed until October 2019. As a result, there is a reduction in the number of flights also during this period. Take precautions and book early if you want to travel via this airport during the period concerned.
Services to Cuba. Since 2016, direct flights between the United States and Cuba have resumed. JetBlue operates direct flights between Fort Lauderdale and Havana or Santa Clara for approximately US$100 per round trip. A good plan to take for a getaway in Cuba!
