ROBBIE'S MARINA
Marina is an attraction of Islamorada, possibility of access to a pontoon above the tarpons feeding on fish
Robbie's is a real local attraction that attracts tourists from all over the world. For a few dollars, you can access a pontoon above dozens of hungry tarpons that are thrown pieces of fish. These fish devour the food as soon as it lands in the water and are surprisingly agile. The spectacle is all the more impressive as tarpons are really big fish. They can indeed reach 2.50 m in length and weigh up to 80 kilos! On the pontoon, pelicans are watching. They too would like to eat a piece of fish, but as the visitors are not allowed to feed them, they are very disappointed... As a reprisal, they steal from time to time pieces of fish from tourists with a lightning speed. But nothing serious will happen to you, don't worry. At the most, you will be pushed by a furious pelican, and you will have a laugh (beware of children who could be seriously injured by the pelicans' beaks). It is also an opportunity to observe these large birds up close.
To recover from your emotions, you will have to treat yourself with a good fish right next door, at the Hungry Tarpon Restaurant (no tarpons on the menu, they are not edible). The marina also rents boats, kayaks, and organizes fishing trips, diving or boat tours. You can also browse through the many souvenir stores.
