ISLAND CITY HOUSE HOTEL
Built in 1889, this impressive Creole house is one of the best addresses of Key West, located in the quiet part of the old town. A small staircase connects each of the three floors, each time through huge wooden terraces where sofas invite to idleness. Each room has a kitchenette, a very stylish water room with antique and sculpted washbasins, as well as TV. The exoticism of the 1930 s or 1940 s reigns here, with wooden furniture such as the enormous comfort of rooms, or the cosy and arched side of queen-size beds. Adjoining this residence, in the middle of the tropical garden where breakfast is served every morning, the owners have rehabilitated a former cigar factory, which has all the pirate look with its bare wooden facades. Hidden in this lush vegetation, among bougainvillea and palm trees, a magnificent swimming pool whose bottom represents a crocodile. Relax is absolutely recommended at the solarium, whose access lies at the back of the building by the last staircase: The view on all the roofs of Key West is captivating.

If I go to Key West again, I will stay here again!
We miss the simple breakfasts, that were part of the experience, that allowed guests to meet.
We choose specific rooms upon booking and when we arrived they changed the rooms. One of the rooms was on the 3rd floor and with bad knees was painful.
Be very specific and double check prior to visiting. Our check in person was not welcoming nor accommodating about our rooms.
Enjoy!
And I have never slept so well in a bed as I did at Island City House. Comfortable... with such fantastic bedding. We are still raving about it today....
