KEY WEST AQUARIUM
Aquarium with a main room equipped with pools surrounded by aquariums, housing the main marine species of the area
The aquarium was built during the Depression in 1935, with the aim of giving a boost to the tourist industry. It has a nice Art Deco architecture. In the main room, three basins are surrounded by numerous aquariums housing the main species of the area. Some models of white sharks, barracudas or more reassuring marine mammals are hanging from the ceiling. Special mention for the "touch tank" tanks in which it is possible to put your hands to touch conch, starfish or sea cucumber.
