Small sandy beach at the end of Duval street with shallow, clear water, the southernmost beach in Key West
South Beach, which is located at the end of Duval street, is a small and pleasant sandy beach. The water is shallow and transparent. It is the southernmost beach of Key West and therefore by definition the southernmost beach of the American continent (Key West being the southernmost territory of the country). You can read on a small blue sign a quote from the writer Tennessee Williams who used to come here to swim and declared: " I work everywhere but I work best here".
