MOSQUE OF TSINGONI
Go there and contact
The Tsingoni mosque is well worth a visit, as it is the island's oldest mosque, dating back to at least 1538. Listed as a historic monument since 2015, the building is still in use. Its minaret is a reminder that Tsingoni was the capital of the Shirazian sultanate in the 16th century, whose influence was felt throughout the Comoros archipelago. The mosque has become a sacred place for the inhabitants, as it houses three tombs believed to contain the remains of Sultan Haïssa, known as "the first Arab", his wife and his daughter.
