Museum retracing the history of millions of Azorean emigrants, and featuring various events throughout the year.
Housed in the town's old fish market, this small museum traces the history of millions of Azorean emigrants, now more numerous abroad than on the archipelago! Packed with archives and period objects, this is a fascinating museum. You'll discover, for example, that the Hawaiian ukulele actually comes from the Azores archipelago. Temporary exhibitions and events are organized throughout the year. A visit not to be missed!

Small museum rich in information on the shifts in population in the Azores. You will discover that a group of indigenous the Azores left in the 19th century to Hawaii with a small typical instrument with 4 strings the Azores, that the Hawaiians adopted under the name of Ukulele.
