TOBACCO MUSEUM
A place where you can discover all the stages in the manufacture of tobacco and the traditional and ancestral methods of production.
São Miguel's oldest tobacco factory, in operation from 1871 to 1988, has been converted into a museum. Here, you can learn about all the stages in tobacco manufacturing and the traditional, ancestral methods of production. The tour, which is always guided, is clear and instructive. However, the guides don't speak French (English and Portuguese). Regrettably, there are no photos or slide shows to present the trade, apart from a short video, and there's not even the possibility of buying cigarettes still produced on the island.
